Default campaign contributions

why are the republican candidates so far back in fundraising? The main democratic candidates have raised ~$85m vs. ~$55m. Is it just because of anti-war sentiment and the legislative shift?

No one likes to back a loser, and many people may be shy on backing a Republican because many people think the Democrats have this election won.

Also, many former sources of big money for the Republicans (especially in the business world) have donated to Democrats instead.

2 primary reasons, imo. Big money will back the perceived frontrunner and only hedge with the other party, and the Dems have done a far better job harnessing the internet mini-contributors through sites like moveon.
