Chase Bank Messing around
After successful cashing foreign checks at chase for years I’ve ran into a problem the past month. I cashed a check from a poker site (foreign bank) on 9/1/07 and the money was originally sent to my account before it was all withdrawn from my account and sent to “international collections”. This money still hasn’t my account. A few days ago I then cashed a personal check for a mid-five figure USD check from a Canadian bank and a few days later the money was removed from my account (now leaving a hugely negative balance). I’ve been informed that this check also it going to take 4-6 weeks to cash, which is wholly inacceptable as my balance is now negative several thousand dollars and raking up more fees everyday. I’ve had a checking account at chase for 4 years, and for the past year and a half I’ve had probably a low five figure average balance. Why are my checks suddenly being sent to collection and what is my recourse? This seems very shady and nonstandard to me, has my account been flagged or something?

Re: Chase Bank Messing around
My experience has been very much the same. I've was told that I have to wait 6-8 weeks and maybe longer for non-NA cheques.
The negative balance is an issue. You might be able to get them to do something about the fees this one time. |

Re: Chase Bank Messing around
This would make me pretty pissed. I would just tell them that if is going to be an ongoing issue then I would like to close my account and relocate it elsewhere.
I've never had a problem at my bank... |
