The Colbert Repoir sucks. Colbert is only funny when he has 5 minute segments on The Daily Show like he use to. Give him a half hour, and his suckiness is revealed.

wow, i cant believe i used to think this...colbert's show is far and away better than the daily show.

[/ QUOTE ]

Bout as worthy a reason to bump a thread as i've seen. Colbert owns the daily show, badly.

Some of the skits that he does, such as debating himself, are no good though.

Formidable Opponent is a truly genius bit.
If it's done in real-time (which it appears to be), it takes a hell of a lot of talent on SC's part.

Fordmidable Opponent is done in real time. Pretty impressive, imo.

Colbert's "Better Know a District" interviews are just about the funniest thing on TV.

This is true. However, I can hardly stand anything else on Colbert any more. I mostly skip his monologue and "the word" and the interviews. His interviews are ridiculously bad. He just plays his character and tries to force funny one liners and doesn't actually talk to the other guy at all. It's all very repetitive and annoying.

daily show with colbert > colbert report > current daily show

seriously, around 2003-2004, the daily show was literally the funniest thing on television IMO. It's fallen flat now, primarily because none of the correspondents are that funny. the era when TDS had stewart with colbert, steve carell, ed helms, samantha bee, and rob corrdry as correspondents was the golden age of TDS.

And, IMO, anyone who says TDS is worse with stewart than with kilborn is incorrect, though kilborn's daily show was admittedly really funny, and is better than the current daily show. jon stewart brought the show to a new level.

Yeah, it's really hard to lose two of the funniest men in America from your show and still be so awesome. That said, TDS still pumps out some really funny correspondents. John Oliver is great.
