Afino looked OK tonight... flashes of brilliance like always. BUT HE STILL HOGS THE PUCK LIKE CRAZY. I swear, he'd be very close to the top in points if he passed it more often. He gets into the offensive zone with so much speed and usually both defensemen have to converge on him. He can stickhandle and deke past one, and some times both.... but by the time he does he doesn't have a great shot. He opens up so much ice yet doesn't get it to his teammates enough.

I haven't seen a huge % of Sabres fans, but everytime I have I've noticed that. What do you think GG?

[/ QUOTE ]

problem with Max is he isnt a finisher...he always goes for the extra move instead of making the pass or taking a shot..its great to see him run and gun and it can cause havoc with the defenses but he isnt strong enough to make a finishing move in some cases and isnt smart enough on the ice to make a play that will set up a good opportunity...he seems too out of control most of the time to be effective.....

...I wouldnt wanna lose him but if it meant keeping Drury, Vanek and Zubris Id help pack his bags give hime a hug and tell him sorry to see ya go

Ottawa radio play by play guys have been whining about the timekeeper ever since.

I'm a Sens fan too, but boy is it ever getting old!

Were they complaining the clock started early or something? Because the puck was clearly in.

do you really think the sabres will try and sign all 3? Also, afinogenov is a pretty good bargain at 3 mill/per.

Would you rather have zubrus + afinogenov or briere?

[/ QUOTE ]

afinogenov was a -EV player for his first few years in the league and still has problems being good. until this season he didn't score enough goals and his dazzling one on one moves often leave his teammates out of position and lead to turnovers. i'd look to trade him since his value is not going to get higher - all the sabres' value is inflated.

puck-hogging isn't his problem - it's that it's difficult for a player like him to find his teammates.

How they reverse that goal is ridiculous.

How they gave Buffalo the 4th goal in the first game is ridiculous.

I don't want to hear any whining from Buffalo fans about calls. The officiating in this series has been so pro-Buffalo it's obscene.

You noticed that too, huh, Gamble? The announcers are blatantly biased towards the Rangers...probably because a large market team in the Stanley Cup Finals would ensure at least some sort of ratings for the games on NBC. I wonder if there's any truth to the rumor that Doc Emrick is calling this game while wearing a vintage 1994 Messier sweater.

For example, the no-goal by Rachunek...these dummies in the booth acted like it was an open and shut case that the goal was good, even though Rachunek's foot motion on the play....well, let's just say the last time I saw something like that, Thierry Henry was on the end of a Zidane free kick to eliminate Brazil in the 2006 World Cup quarterfinals. It was a blatant kick, and the guys in Toronto made a good call.

Seeing unprofessional broadcasts like this makes me appreciate, yet again, how spoiled and lucky we are as Sabre fans to have Rick Jeanneret and Jim Lorentz in the booth.
