Re: Ed Miller\'s Short Hand Strategy on Full Tilt...
[ QUOTE ]
Anyone got a link describing Ed Millers system? Curious to see what its all about. Found one post about it but it was pretty vague. [/ QUOTE ] I think the book is about $14 on Amazon. I bought it long after I started playing (and long after I read Small Stakes Holdem and a whole bunch of other books) and I got at least equal value. You'll waste $14 in time trying to dope out what SSS is all about by sifting through countless "I love SSS/I hate SSS" threads. |

Re: Ed Miller\'s Short Hand Strategy on Full Tilt...
Actually, Ed's site goes into the SSS in great depth. NLH:T&P covers the benefits of playing short as well.
But like QL said, GSIH is well worth the few bucks it cost, no matter what version of hold'em you play. |

Re: Ed Miller\'s Short Hand Strategy on Full Tilt...
Wow this thread is going well.
Couple of points tho... Hyper_dermic: 1. I appreciate your point of view. I think you're right actually, I don't feel I am learning too much about poker doing this. It's getting bloody boring too. 2. I can actually play poker. I'm not a rank beginner. I got my bankroll above $500 at one stage and have never been more than $60 under the break-even-line, and that was after I started this SS stuff (I must admit I wasn't playing it strictly to begin with). I am learning, I've read some great books, and played a hell of a lot of hands of the past 6 months. I am still not a great player, but it's not as if I just picked up a deck of cards. 3. "kid"? I'm 29 and a semi-professional rugby player. I'm a kid when it comes to poker, granted. Thanks for you advice anyway mate, I appreciate it and I do see where you are coming from! |

Hey fish (its funny saying that)
I hope you didnt take it personally, i dont know your background so i just threw out a blanket statment. From your posts it seems like you were new and wanted to learn how to play very well. I just dont see that happening with SSS. Although, after some others have posted the advantages of SSS for new players, i can see how it could be handy in keeping people from going broke in the very early phases of learning. I wish ya the best of luck in whatever you decide to do. I'll help out if i can. Although live limit is where i spent most of my time, recently ive switched over to Live and online NL. Not to mention read as many of the 2+2 books i could get my hands on Oh and for the record, i call everyone "Kid" or "Kiddo" regardless of age.. its something my Father always did, and i guess i just picked it up. -hyp |

Re: Ed Miller\'s Short Hand Strategy on Full Tilt...
Hand #6 brings questions.....
what does Ed say in his book about this kind of situation? calling an AI w/ 88 to a board of A/6/6 can never be a +EV (or simply "good play") short or deep stacked |
