Hello Michael,
Thank you for all of your kind words. I'll be sure to pass this along to everyone mentioned. As for your constructive comments:
1. Players are 60/40 positive for the change to 3/6. Some of the 4/8 players made the jump to 6/12 and seem happy with that structure. It's more than likely that these limits will remain for the time being.
2. The bad beat jackpot drives me nuts too. The QueueOS programmer is coming out to fix this problem. Both the list and the bad beat notification are set for a certain amount of time. As we extend the list to 3 or 4 pages it becomes a real problem. It will be fixed, I promise.
3. I'll pass along your comments to Tim Mix, our tournament director, and I'll get back to you.
4. I know who you are speaking of, her name is Esther Rossi. She has been hired as a consultant and she has been working very hard to promote the room. She has at times jumped in to help run the list because we have been short staffed. I'll let her know your thoughts.
5. The open seat issue will be eliminated in two ways. First of all the staffing issues are finally taken care of and all positions will be filled by the end of next week. This will allow our supervisors to stay in their assigned area to monitor the seats. Secondly, we are expecting the arrival of an upgrade form QueueOS to allow the dealers to press a button at the table to notify the staff of an open seat, fill request, cocktails, etc.
6. We just had a meeting with all the Managers to address this issue. We've instructed the dealers on how we want the absent buttons maintained. We've told the supervisors the proper procedures for picking a player up. Also we are implementing the 3rd man walking rule.

Thanks againg for taking the time to point these things out. Please introduce yourself the next time your in.

wow, I'm very impressed...

I might be coming back to the room to play very soon if all of these positive steps are being taken to ensure

a)good games
b)good cust service
c)efficient running of the room

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree that this is wonderful that postive steps are being taken, but why weren't these things done from day 1?

I have a question.

Why does the vaneesh cardroom force NLHE 2/5 players to go south with a table change?

Example- Im playing 2/5 NLHE at the lovely venetian cardroom and am currently double stacked ($1000) from my expert play ;-). Now I decide to move tables, and they move me, informing me I have to take $500 off the table and step my stack back to the max-buy in.

You realize that this erases the rule of table stakes, right? Basically, if a player wishes to "go south" in a game, all they have to do is request a table change.

and, on a personal note. It would mean alot to me if your staff was informed that it is improper to make their recognition of a regular player obvious at the table prior to the player mentioning it. I have been playing a good deal in the room- which is certainly on par with both the belly and wynn in most respects- however, it is frustrating when the dealers (and several do this) go out of their way to greet me by name.

I understand WHY- they are trying to be courteous and customer-satisfying- but its not a restaraunt and it does a good deal of DAMAGE to a players table image when sveral dealers obviously know the player by name. A simple head nod and smile in the regular players direction will accomplish the same thing- without undermining that players table image.

This very rarely happens at the belly or the wynn- and I think a general memo or mention of why NOT to do it to your staff would stop it from happening at the vaneesh as well.

Thanks for being open to the input.

I would normally be somewhat interested in trying out the new room IF I got around to it on my next trip to LV.

This thread practically makes it a 100% guarantee that I will be trying it out.

(I've laready walked past it and have seen for myself the amount of space between the tables, etc).

Very refreshing to see this kind of attention to customers' concerns and requests.

I am going to Vegas in late July, and I will be going to the Venetian Poker room for the first time - and this thread is a reason why.

In the modern casino there are often people that have never worked in poker managing poker rooms. In mnay of these rooms smiling is placed above quality dealing. Most (maybe all) casinos talk about being friendly and greeting people in orientation. People that have been in poker a long time understand that some people do not want to be known as a regular; people that are unfamiliar with poker treat it llike any other department and figure what palyers like hearing the most is their name.

Many years ago I was a regular in the old MGM room. ABout 4 or 5 dealers in a row came into the game and mentioned they didn't recognize me without my hat. Finally a player spoke up and said "can somebody bring him a hat so we dont' ahve to hear about it anymore."

Am I the only one who doesn't think this is that big a deal? Most of the floor people at Taj know me by name and it's nice when they say hello and we have some friendly banter. I think it's pretty obvious to tourists that you're a regular if the other regulars all know you and greet you by name anyway...I dunno, maybe it's just me but the floor people being nice to you has always been something I like.

Give tourists credit - many are not stupid people and are successful in other aspects of their lives; they are just bad poker players.

I'm with you Jeff. I can go to the Bellagio and Mirage and get treated like dirt (YMMV) or go to the V or the Wynn and be treated like gold.

I like the fact that the Venetian is so damn nice to their players but maybe I'm just an old softy.

Happy pokering,

Howard

I will also chime in on this. Maybe it is just a recreational players locals thing (like the familiarity that locals enjoy at stations casinos), but one of the major reasons I enjoy the room is the friendly/familiar staff that makes it a point to recoginize you by name.

Like Howard said, why would I want to deal with the dry attitude of the B when the Venetian makes every effort to make me feel at home.

Sorry flubsy, but I am going to have to go with the others that said that player recognition and familiarity is welcomed and should not be discouraged.
