Where are the tournament structures to this event? I see the schedule but no details?

[/ QUOTE ]

I would suspect it would be simular to last year's structure.

What were last year's structures?

I've sent an e-mail to try to get the structures and I did get a reply back to e-mail an individual for them. I've e-mailed them back to get the details and will post them, once I get them.

I got a reply back, and the person in question promised to stop by here and try to post the info later (I'm thinking links perhaps??), and answer questions.

In the meantime, was trying to figure out how to attach a file in this message, but I couldn't, so this is going to be rather crude here (no formatting). If you'd like a copy in word.doc format, PM me with an e-mail addy, and I can e-mail it to you.

If someone comes up with a way I can host it someplace, I could do it that way too.

This is for the $500 +50 event, which is what I was interested in.

FWIW, I think the 50 minute blinds are awsome!

For a $500 tourney, the structure is pretty good.

The Harrah's here in STL offers same structure with 40 minute blind levels and 5,000 in starting chips for every tournament over $100 buy-in.

The WSOP structure looks sound, though I sure wish you'd start off with more than 80 big blinds (or small blinds, for that matter).

I'm actually happy with this amount of chips. This because I learned how to play (tournament) poker playing with far less chips, and far shorter (rising time for the) blinds.

I still have not gotten a good handle on deep stack poker, so this (amount of chips) is perfect for me.

I find my evil twin sister donkella shows up to play (instead of me) when I get more than say 3k in starting chips.

Don't laugh, we all have that evil twin inside of us, for guys, his name is Donkzilla.

It's when we know we should fold our two hole cards, and we hear a voice (strangely coming out of our own mouths) say, I call, I raise, or the worst, I go all in.

The nice thing about the structure, Cincy, is that if you do catch a hot run early on and are able to multiply your stack by 3x or 4x, you will be playing with comfortable blinds and a healthy stack while almost all of the players around you will be shortstacked.

You will have your full arsenal of moves, a nice stack, and blinds that move up SLOWLY. In most slow-blind tourneys, you get more of a starting stack, and even if you double/triple up early, you do not neccessarily get to exert any more pressure on your opponents in the first 5 or 6 levels since they are generally NOT going to be shortstacked.

Yep, my feelings exactly, and I actually do quite well in these type of events.

In fact, last March, I finished 13th out of a field of 713 at the Ceasars Indiana WSOPCE (Event #1) (My pocket queens did me in at the end, where I had to go all in because I was then short stacked, and the BB ended up with A/J o/s and called me. Yep ... you guessed it, he spiked an Ace on the flop, and I was done for).

This because I find that most of the other players don't know what I know, or don't have experience with this type of structure (which is):

1) These type of structures reward the good player who is patient.

2) Most players are used to playing events where the rounds at best raise every 20 min, so they think they are short stacked far sooner than they really are.

3) Many players are used to playing in deep stack poker events (IE; Your mention of where you play, they give you 5k in starting chips), and combined with what I mentioned in #2 above, think 2k just isn't enough chips to start with, so they donk off their chips with their (over) agressive play, instead of realizing they can afford to be patient and wait for a hand to come to them.

Now, that all said and done, I am working on playing better myself in deep stack poker events, without the 'weath factor' doing me in.

The Wealth factor is where because you have more chips than you are used to playing with normally, you call hands you have no business being in the first place with (simply because you are thinking that you have 'extra' chips in your stack).

Thus for right now, 2k in starting chips, with these blinds (and how slow they rise), is perfect for me and my style of play.

Not meaning to be a total nit to you PuJols but the structures are only similiar to those in St Louis.

First with the $5000 chip start St louis begins at 25/50 not 25/25 and probably most importantly Level 7 is skipped (at least in the $300 buy ins). The Jump from 200/400 to 400/800 WITHOUT the 300/600 is the key pain point in St Louis for players having to Push due to short stacks.

Good Luck in Tunica

McCoy, so you are saying in St. Louis, they have less levels than what they are going to have in Tunica?
