Default A couple straw polls

Dr. Paul received 208 votes (73%) for a landslide victory against Mitt Romney today at the Strattford County, New Hampshire straw poll. Romney received 26 votes. Mike Huckabee came in third with 20 votes.

Tancredo (8 votes), McCain (7 votes), Cox (5 votes), Hunter (5 votes), Thompson (5 votes), Giuliani (3 votes) and Brownback (1 vote) finished the field.

As noted earlier, Ron Paul received 216 votes for a commanding first-place finish in a straw poll today sponsored by the West Alabama Republican Assembly. Mitt Romney came in second with 14 votes.

So are there only 26 people in Strattford, NH really behind a non-Ron Paul GOP candidate? Same in West Alabama, except replace 26 with 14? Seems pretty sick. Is this kind of apathy standard? And Giuliani getting out supported by Cox?

Don't know much about straw polls and I doubt their relevance but Ron Paul is the only republican candidate with a clue. A Ron Paul vs. Dennis Kucinich race is the only way we will get some honest political discourse in 2008.

And it will never happen thanks to the almighty dollar.

Can't wait to hear what Sean Hannity has to say about this, considering the way he sucked Romney off over his straw poll victory in Iowa.

Odds are, he won't have anything to say at all, which is about all anyone could hope for.

Dr. Paul took 3rd in an Illinois GOP strawpoll of not quite a thousand people today at 19%, behind Romney at 40% and Fred at 20%.

The most interesting part of the story is that Romney's Illinois campaign chairmain, Illinois state senator Dan Rutherford apparently either knocked or tore a Ron Paul sign from the hands of a Paul supporter, threw it to the ground and stepped on it, and stood there, refusing to allow the Ron Paul supporter to pick up his sign.

This was [partially] caught on video. Skip to the 5:46 mark.

I guess Romney didn't buy these two.
