Three possible suggestions:
<ul type="square">[*] Put them on your iPod and transfer[*] Transfer them with a crossover ethernet cable[*] Put them on the same network and transfer with Windows file sharing[/list]

I just matched-up the folders as they were as they will be, and the itunes library was none the wiser. P.S. I agree it's a strict/silly rule. It's certainly not complicated, though.
