Default Price of selling/buying points @ Pinny

After selling/buying points @ pinny to make the spread equal on the Denver/San Diego game today, I notice that when you set both to +-7.5, the juice is -112 and -103. The way I calculate Pinny is taking a little more than 1c extra for each 0.5 point that you sell/buy, turning a -104 line into -107.5. Is this pretty much commonplace for Pinny's sellback option? And do they take a similar amount for NBA, etc. I would expect this would increase the value of a middle opportunity vs perfect arb since you would lose EV by shifting the lines. Opinions anyone?

It depends on if Pinnacle always correctly prices their buy/sell lines. (Hint: They don't.)

Any business that buys and sells things does it to make money on the transactions and Pinny is no different.

Well, I don't know if anyone could lay claim to being the absolute arbiter of what the "correct" price is for buying/selling points. But sometimes the Pinny prices look odd. They are not necessarily consistent wrt what the points are worth. While it is true that the bettor is generally giving up EV to move the line, as the "make-up" does always increase, I would agree with ImBen that a sharp analyst could probably find spots to gain EV by buying/selling points, even though the bookie's overall make-up increases. In other words, they may not move each side the "correct" amounts (one too much and one too little). I'm sure it does happen.

The worth of points directly relates to a team's expected winning percentage, and if you're expectation is better than what the market think then you can potentially find more value buying or selling points. It doesn't happen all that often, though.
