Randy: I could be wrong but I had thought that the gaming regulations in NV stated that any fouled deck nullified the hand, without exception. I don't know where I could double check that, but it's what I've been told in the past.

I have a copy of them, I will dig them out sometime in the next week and read them to see if it is addressed.

Wait, if a deck with an improper number of cards is not "fouled," then what is? I deck that someone peed all over? I don't get it.

A deck with duplicate cards in it.

Assuming an automatic shuffler was used, it brings up the possiblity that the Jh was in the deck at the start of the hand and was somehow lost when the deck was counted.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have also seen dealers (not often at all) ignore the red light and attempt to deal that deck anyway.

No Shufflemaster. I don't recall whether there was one and it wasn't working or if they just didn't have one. Regardless, the card coulda been missing since the new deck was spread at midnight.

Which kinda brings us to the question of why dealers aren't trained to count down the stub now and then? Seems like this used to be common a few years ago and now I almost never see it. Maybe Shufflemasters have done to dealers what radar did to air controllers...they've forgotten how to work without the crutch.

'Course I once saw a new dealer count the stub at Sahara and the floor was so amazed and impressed he shouted out to the whole room something like "ATTENTION DEALERS: Here we have someone who knows procedures and is actually counting the stub!"

But how did the card end up on the floor in the first place? How often does this truly happen? I can never recall a deck coming up short EVER while playing B&M.

[/ QUOTE ]

Earlier this year at the Borgata (old room,) a jack had fallen to the floor without anyone noticing. Played a short deck for 3-4 hands before dealer counted the stub. Don't remember how, but it actually helped me out on one big hand.

So it happens. But not often. I've seen more royals than this happening.

Not all of Bally's tables have autoshufflers.

None of Paris's do. It varies by casino.

F*** Bally's.

DO NOT PLAY THERE. It's a cheezy casino anyhow. Far better casinos to play poker in.

F*** them.

And yes, make a stink. Make a complaint.

It's frustrating I know. Makes you want to punch this f**** in the head.

yep.

if this were to happen to me the exact same way, after all of my verbal avenues were closed, i'd have a very hard time not walking over to the floor and/or casino manager and challenging them to a duel, so to speak.

i realize and physical contact and i'm probably going to see the inside of a vegas jail, but at that point, i'm probably mad enough not to care, especially because i TOLD the floor what the deal was, and he didn't either care, or listen..
