Re: The money or the title?
umm you are playing poker with money to win money right? isnt that the whole point of this game? not to get some dopey bracelet. who cares, if you get 2nd and no bracelet you are still obv good. if you get 1st and get a bracelet then hurray, the low percentage of the population that are poker players will think you are good.

[ QUOTE ]
I used the hypothetical question, what if second place paid a million dollars, and the winner nothing but a title. He again said he would take the title. He also hates his job, has huge money issues, and is having trouble keeping up with car payments. [/ QUOTE ] He is lying to you. |

Re: The money or the title?
The money, ldo. Everybody who plays poker for "death and glory" does it for the wrong reasons imo.
If I was on a final table HU for a prizepool of 1 million with Hellmuth and he would make an offer like: "You get all the money, but plz let me "win" the bracelet!" and I were not a 4:1 chipleader I'd take the money in a second. Plus I don't have to listen to his whining. |

Re: The money or the title?
We actually had a discussion about how much the bracelet was worth, like how much money you would be willing to give up to have won one.
Somewhere between 50-100k was our answer. This was all among people who've won more than that in poker overall though, so that probably biases it. When I first started playing and had a small bankroll, I thought bracelets were a joke and anyone who said they'd take it over the money was an idiot. I think when you get to a certain point, the money just becomes less important. |

the title... knowing that i'm good enough to repeat my success to be a winning player and make money in the long run. [/ QUOTE ] do you realize that a) you dont suddenly transform into a bad player if you take the money b) its ridicilously hard to "repeat your success" in a big mtt tournament |
