5/10 HU live
Opponent is famous Atlanta live player Dave Woo. We decided to play some friendly 5/10 heads up. We each bought in for $2k, but we definitely aren't getting drunk and donking around. The mood is very serious. Here's a run down of Dave's game:
Pros: --Outstanding physical live reader --Fearless in every respect --Creative Cons: --Prone to tilt which causes him to bluff too much and won't fold pairs --Weak in some technical fundamentals --Probably a bit to loose in general He has $1800, and I cover. I've mostly been getting the better of him by showing down the goods when value betting or calling his bluffs. He views me as overly solid/tight. I raise button to $35 w/ J7o and get instacalled. Flop 2d2s5h ($70 pot) I bet $50, he check raises me to $125 which means he has two cards. I re-raise to $375. He goes through some acting about wanting to fold, then wanting to call, then wanting to fold and finally calls. Turn Td (Pot $820) He leads for $300 pretty quick. I pause and call. River Qh (Pot $1420) He mulls and decides to bet $200, leaving himself with $875. I muck. |

Re: 5/10 HU live
Why are you fighting for this pot so badly? I understand the flop play but when he leads the turn there's really only two plays IMO, raise or fold. I'm heavily weighed towards fold.
That said, I think you have to call this river if you are going to flat call the turn. Should he have 3-4, 3-6 you'll scream "J high, ship it!" and if not, you'll see his hand for 200 bux. |

Re: 5/10 HU live
I just fold the turn, he's giving up the river rarely, and more likely to 3 barrel with a lot of stuff that you'd be value from calling and pushing the river.

Re: 5/10 HU live
Once he check-raises the flop, you have to decide whether to play it like you have a hand or not. If not, fold, else raise turn or push river. It seems you take a middle ground and play into his strengths.

ya... i know its headup but man, you can fold J high sometimes. [/ QUOTE ] I'm aware that I should typically fold it sometimes, but a play like this can't really be incorrect always right? Hands are hard to make in hold 'em. If I could whether my HU opponent was capable of this or not, I'd choose not. |
