heisen- ty first resonable answer i've gotten thus far. u just have to wonder, why all the best poker players in the world play nl. doyle, slim, ivey, chan, matusow (haha) [/ QUOTE ] Three simple answers that are all conecceted: 1) A excellent players edge over a merely "good" players edge is fairly substantial in NL. In limit its fairly tiny. More room and opportunities to induce your opponent into making large mistakes. 2) theres way more awful players playing NL and you can exploit them much more significantly in NL. 3) Less variance Therefore there's more money to be made with less variance. Many people find it more fun too (I agree with 10 handed NL being more fun than 10 handed limit) Little to do with it it's complexity. I bet they would play tic tac toe for a living if they could make billions at it... |

Re: those who do, do.... those who can\'t teach
heisenberg, i'd be far less ready to concede that the "best poker players in the world" are those that play no limit.
also that his/her list represents the best in the world (amarillo slim lol). spaceballs, maybe WSOP coverage is the wrong place to get your idea of which form of poker is superior. its like comparing apples to oranges but i'd feel comfortable saying that high limit fixed limit players are just as capable poker minds as high stakes NL players. |

Re: those who do, do.... those who can\'t teach
is it really comparing apples and oranges? go to any poker site and look at where more people are playing nl or fl. why is that? to much poker coverage on tv? you know something that everyone else in the poker community doesn't? i can name a ton of great nl online player (sbrugsby, dirksen, neverwin, makeemsayuh, dags, etc...) guys that play at the highest of levels with the largest of bank rolls. Only one fl player comes to mind, although he is a god... TLK. so wtf, help me to understand if fl is just a challenging as nl why is there such a great dispersion in play between the two? by the way amarillo slim, is one of the best nl players that has ever played the game!!!!! he traveled and housed games with doyle, birds of a feather do flock together. get a clue before you speak, or you just end up looking like your avatar: evil, ugly, and dumb
