Hi Mason,
Glad to see 2+2 is kicking butt after all those years of effort before WPT.

But is it now safe to say, since you're books are on the Amazon top 100 lists... that David's original feelings that publishing books would kill the games... is starting to come true?

The tightness of the tables online as of late is amazing. All the way down to .02/.04, LOL!

And now you're publishing a short handed book! There goes 6-max!

But, still, congrats.

Hi Everyone:

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support concerning our two new books Harrington on Hold 'em; Volume III: The Workbook and No Limit Hold 'em: Theory and Practice. Right at this moment (3:00 am West Coast Time on Monday June 26) they have Amazon sales ranks of 76 and 69 respectively. Since these books have now been out for almost a full month we are just thrilled to see that they are selling at this rate and this wouldn't happen without the support from everyone who comes to this site.

Also, for those interested, we have now had nine different books make the Amazon.com top 100. This is just incredible for a company like ours (and yes I am bragging a little).

And since we're on the subject of new books, here's what I expect in the future. But first, let me say that this is all very tentative and the dates are certainly not firm at this point in time.

Winning High Stakes and Short Handed Hold ’em; Expert Limit Hold ’em for Serious Cash Game & Internet Players by Ray Zee and David Fromm looks like the fall of 2006.

Small Stakes No Limit Hold ’em: Winning Big With Expert Play by Ed Miller, Matt Flynn, and Sunny Mehta looks like either the end of the year or early 2007.

Harrington on Hold 'em; Volume IV: No Limit Cash Games by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie looks like the spring of 2007.

There are also a couple of other books being kicked around. At this point in time it's too early to announce anything.

Best wishes,
Mason

They won't be profitable after this book reaches saturation. Same as SSHE, I believe has done to the 10 handed games.

Now that poker literature is mainstream enough to find it at Barnes and Noble and not just "Gambler's Book Club, 10th and Charleston" the ratio of educated players is getter higher all the time.

There goes 6M!

But between SSHE and 6M/HLHM I think you guys are finding areas where there is definitely a need for further exploration that will certain have an audience in games that obviously can be extremely profitable for the knowledgeable player.

Well, I'm not good enough to say that with any real authority. But the proverbial SSHE, "4 players call your raise" or whatever games seem to be going away. 30% to see the flop seems fairly common on Stars.

I don't think I'm the only one that's noticed a tightening since the beginning of the year, am I?

Once again, Ed didn't write SSH for on-line play.

He wrote if for live B&M play at the 4-8 level.

Ok, well I've got news for you: Stars low-mid limit games have gotten gradually SOFTER in the last 1-2 years. SSH was written more for B&M games.

I'd be rich if I had a nickel for every time the worst player at the table berated another player because they didn't have correct pot odds, and then misqouting or misinterpreting a section of SSH or HPFAP. I'm not at all worried about games drying because of too many good books. If anything, it helps them because idiots think they can read a few chapters of a book, and then they're immediately ready to turn pro.

Mason,

In Ed Miller's book, GSIH, in part two, he walks the reader through the play of ten poker hands. I found this really helpful. Other books do the same thing but the style used in this book I found to be the most helpful and easiest to follow. I would like to see a book full of examples like these. I think a lot of people would. Could you twist his arm for us? Thanks.

I've always thought the format of the Illistrated Guide to Texas Hold'em was exceptional, where you had the "poker problem" on the even-numbered page and the "solution" on the odd-numbered page. That way you got to see both all on on two facing pages, and it cut out the page turning and flipping that I found so anoying while reading How Good is Your Limit Hold'em.

In fact, if you cut out all the "illistrated" crap there would be room on two pages for a problem and a through solution that explored various possibilities. 150 throughly expolred poker problems (throughly explored by a competent poker authority) would be helpful to anyone.

Or you could grunch in the forums for a day or two...
