Why so much preflop? Shouldn't 40 or 50 do the trick? Then you have some wiggle room post-flop. Something doesnt add up - if he has 1k, his raise should be 620 more, not 400-ish. As played, I dont see how you can fold this, considering how weak your flop and turn bets were. Also, what were the suits? Any reads? Considering this is a home game, you should have some idea how this guy plays, if you've played together before.

This was getting later at night and the pre-flop raises were getting much bigger, 80 was pretty standard, especially since there were many 3k + stacks at the table. The raise was somewhere in the 400's, villian lost a few chips calling and folding on the flop. Rainbow board, and villian was a new player to the game who came with his friends for the first time.

I would pot the flop next time, and consider checking behind on the turn, as that board is fairly drawless. But then again, knowing home games, I think you have to take all overpairs to the felt for only 100BBs. I call.

You didnt say how many people are sitting in this game.

Let's assume the guy is not a total idiot. Therefore, what could he call that preflop raise with and then take that line? I think he has 77 or 88 all day here.

However, if he is a total donkey, and it sounds like there might be a bunch of you if the standard open is $80, then this is an easy call at that price.

Maybe he thinks your 1/2 pot turn bet is weak and wants to push you off your hand. You got 760:400ish, I'd probably call and see what's going on in his little mind.
