If the allegations are true his career is over. The general public will forgive you for taking drugs and beating your wife, but the sh*tstorm of bad press that will come down on the team that signs him and the NFL in general won't be worth it. The NFL doesn't want PETA on its ass.

No one has mentioned here that Federal government does not pass indictments unless they have an extremely solid case, and as a result with a conviction rate of approximately 95%. Combine 4 indictments with the aura of a Witch Hunt that has been prevalent since the dogs were first discovered puts Vick in a really bad spot. I think odds are he will do some time.

On the other hand, it's going to suck having this hanging over everyone's heads for the next year. I bet Goodell will lay the smackdown if Vick gets convicted. He doesn't want punks in the league, especially not high profile ones like Vick.
