How do I stop playing so aggressive on re-raises?
Well another day of .10 NL and another terrible performance. Hey it is better I have only lost $15 in about 3 hours this time. And as usual I lose all my money on 2 or 3 hands.
Full Tilt Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $6.40 UTG+1: $5.10 MP1: $11.25 MP2: $9.30 MP3: $7.10 CO: $14.05 Button: $9.75 SB: $3.80 Hero: $6.45 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 raises to $0.2, 4 folds, Hero calls, UTG calls, MP1 calls. Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.85, 4 players) Hero checks, UTG checks, MP1 checks, MP2 bets $0.1, Hero raises to $0.7, 2 folds, MP2 raises to $1.4, Hero raises all-in $6.25, MP2 calls. Turn: 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($13.35, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $13.35) River: 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($13.35, 1 player + 1 all-in - Main pot: $13.35) Results: Final pot: $13.35 MP2 showed Ah Ad Hero showed 8c As I just wish I knew why I can't stop pushing in such stupid situations. A moron can see that you are beaten but I still push like an idiot. Hell probably shouldn't even have played this pre-flop. My confidence is completely shot. I can read all the books and web sites in the world but I just can't stop doing that one stupid move that makes me lose my stack. Maybe I should never go all in. I don't know it is completely mental with me now. And I still don't believe it is variance. It is just stupidity. |

Re: How do I stop playing so aggressive on re-raises?
i dont play full ring, but even SH i dont call a8o in the bb. you're gonna be oop and even if you hit your ace, you have kicker problems. as played i think it's fine if you think villain is capable of overplaying AK/AQ. dont show results, as it skews answers.

It's hard to give him credit for the case AA/88 or 55. I'm not really sure how you get away?

Re: How do I stop playing so aggressive on re-raises?
Yeah for 95% of the time. But that 5% is the worst poker possible. Too passive when I shouldn't be (slowplaying QQ to an eventual runner runner flush) and too aggressive when I am dead. These gaps are completely mental and intellectual.

Re: How do I stop playing so aggressive on re-raises?
this looks fine to me, i think villain has ak/aq some here. i would not call the raise preflop honestly.

Re: How do I stop playing so aggressive on re-raises?
a) don't call with a8os pf.
b) hope this hand happens the same way if you do it again. |
