Hi and welcome to the forums.

Sorry to he harsh but this is totally and completely horrible. Firstly, you need to turbofold this preflop, and hope that the big stack takes out the short stack. As played, on the flop, with middle pair and a gutshot straight draw, you need to check behind and only put more chips in the pot if you hit two pair, trips or your straight. Button is all in so there's a good likelihood that the big stack will check this down.

The sb is giving you a gift here by not shoving pre and checking the flop. Just try and check it down.

I only thought it would be okay because i get these fantastic pot odds preflop

I haven't played a sng in a long time but I'm pretty sure pf is fine. Especially since the fact that the bigstack didn't shove pre leads me to believe that he is just going to check it down.

There are times when chip preservation is more important than pot odds, and I think this hand qualifies. If your hand was stronger I could see a call but even given the pot odds 86o is just too weak to beat two hands that are very likely better.

But this is this bubble. Isn't the increase in equity gained by bursting the bubble combined with the increased liklihood of this happening if shorty is up against two hands greater than the equity lost by losing 200 chips?

Call me fool but I actually do not dislike OP play.

Calling preflop is perfectly fine since SB did not push.

Also pushing the flop is also fine for 2 reasons:
we have showdown vs shortie and if SB calls we are pretty sure he is going to bust shortie too.

Oh yeah, you're right - I misread the hand and didn't realise that OP was getting like 6:1 pot odds, my bad.

I definitely agree that checking down the hand is the right play though.

I like preflop.

Check behind on the flop.
