passive trapping type of opponent.....
ever played against this type.....vpip mid 30s, PFR about 4 or 5 AF < 1
and yet running at 20ptbb/100 over 2k hands. He always seem to be caling/checking, seldom taking the initiative and does a lot of river trapping against shorter stacks when he pounces on people overplaying marginal stuff. Is he just running hot, picking on the fish or a bit of both? And how would you play agaisnt him - R raise him to death? |

Re: passive trapping type of opponent.....
If somebody has a vpip of 30+, you don't want to be raising them too often without at least a decent holding in most scenarios.
The easiest way to beat a player like this is just to fold your marginal hands/situations when they show resistance, since they rarely do it with a draw or as a bluff. If you've been value betting them to death and they just happen to be getting the right cards at the right time than their luck will soon come to an end. |

Re: passive trapping type of opponent.....
he scalped me a couple of times, but no more....but he has a definite line in stacking shorties or bad players.....always seem to be up at least a buyin.

Re: passive trapping type of opponent.....
Trust me, 30/5 is not the statistics of a winning player. Unless you have 50K+ hands on him and you notice that he's actually maintaining a relatively good ptbb/100 than I wouldn't think too much of it.
