Re: You\'ve been donked (5/10 online)

check raise a flush draw on the flop??????? [/ QUOTE ] I see it often. Moron has read somehwere about raising a flush draw for the free card, so does it at every oppurtunity, without knowledge of position or trying putting his opponent on a hand. I am also not supirsed seeing the c/r from a hand like QQ who is pissed at the overs and doesnt want his opponent winning with a c-bet. Granted QQ does not lead the turn in this scenario, but in general, stranger things have happened. |

yes, im quite sure MP was trying to get more money in on the flop as a dog. if thats the case, i must start playing 5-10 online more often. [/ QUOTE ] It's 5/10 and short handed. I see overly aggressive downright dumb play daily at these stakes. Out of interest, what do you have the villain on ? |

[ QUOTE ] check raise a flush draw on the flop??????? [/ QUOTE ] this is something a moron would do - check raise a draw on a flop that hits the vast majority of the PFR's 3 betting hands when playing 5 handed. OP, is villain an idiot? [/ QUOTE ] I am an idiot, so I'll play. Pocket pairs < KK make up a decent portion of his range -- probably 30% or more. How often do we need to get a fold from these types of hands to justify having to often put in 3 bets on the flop? --Rico |

A standard (full ring) 3 betting range no longer applies. it should actually very skewed towards medium and big aces. secondly, because it is 5 handed, you are not folding out anyone holding a hand like KQ/KJs, which are also in the a typical button 3 bettor's PF raising range. thirdly, if you check raise the flop with your draw, you are almost always leading the turn. you are thus setting yourself up to get owned on the turn with a raise when he smooth calls the flop with a hand like AK/AQ. the only advantage to this play is that you get QQ/JJ to fold. and those hands make up a very small portion of his 3 betting range. and those hands are probably checking the turn after you call the flop anyway. |
