Messed up a monster?
15/30 live.
I have red 77 on the button, 800 players limp to me I limp. SB (only other TAGish) raises (this is big pairs, AK, big suited down to about JTs), everyone calls, I call. Flop: 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] SB bets, 5 calls to me. I raise, SB 3-bets, everyone folds except an LP limper. I call? Turn: 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB bets, limper raises, I 3-bet? Or call and pop the river? Limper has a 3 a lot of the time. SB's range is predominately big pairs (and a small percentage of big suited clubs). |

Re: Messed up a monster?
Jam the flop like it's hot. A lot of draws you'd be jamming so your hand could still be disguised. Make them pay !
Turn I raise now. I think your hand is still under-represented here, and sb showed strength on the flop. JAM IT UP. |

Re: Messed up a monster?
I call and pop the river, which should get you more money in this pot., now SB may put you on a flush draw and 3-bet giving you a chance to cap.

cap flop, raise turn.
If you hate money you can flat call on the turn. |

Re: Messed up a monster?
i disagree.... i dont think sb would call 2 cold on the river.... the pot is humongous but he could still be beaten in 2 places.... i'd get that extra bb in the pot on the turn from the limper who is drawing dead...

cap flop, raise turn. If you hate money you can flat call on the turn. [/ QUOTE ] this is flawless advice. not capping this flop is a pretty serious holdem sin, its FPS and its trying make the stars align so that you can occasionally win a ridiculously large pot, rather than trying to maximize EV. |

Re: Messed up a monster?
capping the flop also creates a bigger pot that others cannot fold away from, even with brutal holdings.

Re: Messed up a monster?
Well I thought (right or wrong): capping might make an overpair check on the turn. I wanted to trap the limper for two bets on the big street. Thats why the flop call. Perhaps I underestimate how much the SB leads again after I cap the flop.
In this particular instance, I think that calling the turn nets me an extra BB, because the SB will call for one more but fold for two on the turn. Then, when the limper bets again I raise. In either instance, I get 4 bets from the limper on the big street. In the way I played the hand out, I got 1 bet instead of 2 from the SB. However, if the limper checks to me on the river, I think I've made a big mistake. |

Re: Messed up a monster?
Raise until the cows come home.
I don't like not-capping the flop because you're going to cap with both big draws and big hands, right? Also, lots of scary cards can come on the turn like a club, the board pairing, or maybe an A/K if villain has QQ/JJ. |
