I think I'm gonna get queasy watching this, so I haven't clicked the link yet. Have heard that busting the tailbone can be extremely painful and make walking hurt like hell for a long time.

I thought it was pretty weak that he didn't win. The dude who edged him out should have given him the gold medal as an act of good samaratianship (is that even a word?)

In that newspaper article linked, they mention some BMW rider who snapped his neck while doing a double backflip in Balitmore a month or two ago.

I tried pretty hard to find the video, but it's nowhere; I finally found a thread in a BMX forum and word is that no news outlet will show it, and NBC, who was videotaping the competition, won't release it.

what I'm saying is that landing with skis/board is far preferable to landing on your feet.

[/ QUOTE ]

that's not true either unless you have some chance of riding away. if you're landing on a flat surface coming from directly above, having extra stuff strapped to your feet can only hurt.

[/ QUOTE ]

well in terms of snowboarding...on a large fall you always want the board to hit first. So KBZ is right in a sense

What if you had magical jetpacks strapped on?

I think skis or boards absorb some % of the impact.

[/ QUOTE ]

sure, if the impact causes the skis or board to change shape.

but that's because you're landing on a slope. if you're landing on the shelf of a halfpipe you'd prefer not to have the board on.

if your coming down same rule applies...board hits first and take most of the impact. not sure about ski's though.

obv in snowboarding its pretty much a given u can't have the board seperate from u
