Default Skatebord Wipeout at last night\'s X Games

Crash

I was at a bar after my softball game last night and they had the X Games on the big screen. A skateboarder (Jake Brown) goes flying up a huge ramp and loses his board immediately after clearing the edge of the ramp. He fell 40-50 feet and landed on his tailbone.

He was laying on the ground for quite a while and we were all waiting for the replay to come on, but ESPN didn't show it for quite a while. Were they refusing to show it in case he was dead? That's the only reason I could think of for the delay.

The last 15 seconds of this clip is the best angle of how scary and how high in the the air he was when he lost it.

Yeah, it's not one of those bone popping through the skin, or ankle folding in half ones. This was just flat out scary.

About 15 minutes after the crash, they showed him backstage being checked out. It looked like the shock of it all was wearing off and the pain was setting in because he looked like he was, or was about to be crying. Though he walked off, there must be some broken/fractured/dislocated stuff in his body.

I have no understanding of how a human being can just walk away from that and basically be fine.

As soon as he was up, he goes, 'Do I have another ride?' 'What'd I do?' 'Did I try the 720?' ” said Ellis.

“You made the 720,” Ellis told him.

“What'd I do on the quarter?” Brown asked.

“Nothing, dude,” Gagnon told Brown. “You did nothing on the quarterpipe.”
