How i improve this habit?
I hope this is the right place to post it, and if not sorry for that.
I am playing home poker with friend for around 20 $ in one game, blinds are 0.5/1 $. I just started playing before one month, and i have big problem. I managed until now to improve mt skills allot, after reading the book of P. Gordon, and practicing in fak money, i am improving. But there is problem as Phil says in his book, predictable players are the best to play with, " i will rase when they dont have good hand and check/fold when they have good hand. " This is the problem of mine, i am managing to read the other players most of times, and making what phil says, but me, they read me very easy. When i get good hand i cant stop my smile, and when not they rase because they see i dont have, i started raising every time when i enter to hand as phil reccommanded to, but it dont help me. I would like to know how i improve this one, i know it is kinda funny but if i wont improve it, my game is down in home poker. Kind Regards, Benayoun. |

Re: How i improve this habit?
The more you play the better you'll be able to control your emotions. You've only been playing poker for one month so don't be too hard on yourself. I'd also recommend not believing that you can "read the other players most of the time" as you are only setting yourself up for a big fall. That is a skill that takes plenty of practice to read the subtle nuances that affect your decisions on all streets, not just pre-flop.

Fake smiles are about the easiest thing as far as humans go to pick up on. When you smile for real, the skin around your eyes crease. When you smile for fake the skin doesn't crease. Don't fake smile. Get a bandana and some dark shades. Plus it's gangsta'! Bring a gloch to your next game if it helps you get into the role. |

Maybe P. Gordon can help you with grammar and spelling as well.

Put a rock in your shoe and when you have a good hand put your weight on that foot. Maybe the discomfort will wipe that smile off your face. W To be less predictable with your hand, play the rags every now and then when it is cheap, and check the monsters once awhile. To avoid the fake smile with your rags, rerun a scene from your favorite porn flick in your mind. That'll make a genuine smile. If you think too much about it, the other "reaction" will creep everyone out of the hand. |

$20 with .5/1 blinds? Thats AI preflop or fold?
About the smile, you'll get used to it. The more you play, the less you care, the less you get excited |
