Re: Just another day in the life of DERB man
i hope lots of fish read this thread and for some reason think that this is sustainable and copy this style.
i have no doubt Phu is a winning player and takes pots away post flop from people a lot. I have played him before and found him v difficult to figure out, his game is very string against weak players which allows him to run over tables somewhat. However running at 7.5BB/100 whist playing a vpip of 62 and pfr of 20 is simply not sustainable. Variance is a very hard thing to understand and is not always linked to running like god/ horrific downswings. It is v easy to run 3 or so BB/100 better than u shud be and for it not to be very noticeable. Phu is defo a winning player, but the degree is not sustainable. If he tightens up and plays a more 30/25 or lower style then nl100 is beatable probably for 10BB/100 by the best players at the level. I can see a LAP style coming unstuck v fast when the distribution evens out and it will be very unfortunate for him if it comes when he decides to move up and more people adjust to exploit the style. IMO he is the one of the best nl00 player i have seen on any site, mainly due to v good hand reading and bet sizing v well. He is v skilled at using his style to pick on weak players, if phu adapts his play and stops spewing he will be v successfully vs the better regs also and able to move through a few limits with ease. Respect tho for the sick stats and developing ur own style. |
