WSOP registration question (newbie q)

So Im heading to Vegas for the PLO tourn on the 14th and Im wondering how to minimize times on line etc.

Does paying in advance really save me any time? I keep reading about how people end up standing around for 6 hours to get their seat assignments even tho they paid weeks ago.

Also, are the resources to "check in" and pay/get seat assignments available 24/7? I get to the Rio on Wed night around 10pm and the tourn starts Thurs at noon or something, so Im starting to feel a bit queasy about the timing of all this...

I called their info # and all was explained to me; registrations are processed 24/7 in the Amazon room, where they provide seating info upon completion of the reg process.
