A friend of mine was taking a summer class, and he had to wait for a bus. So he went into an empty building on campus, into an isolated 3rd floor bathroom, sat on the toilet, and proceeded to play Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages for Gameboy Advance for the next 2 hours with his pants down.

Rolling Stone Magazine
Money Magazine
PC Magazines

Don't do books. Unless you have great stamina and determination. But for novices, I'd suggest magazines.

How about nothing? Eat some fiber and squeeze it out.

Exactly. If taking a dump takes so long you can read, start taking Metamucil or something.

A typical session lasts about 2-3 minutes. In that time you can read like 10 pages of a book. Why waste the time staring at nothing?

I read Book 7 of the Dark Tower series (750+ pages) almost entirely on the toilet over a couple months.

First off, I'm not a fast reader, so 10 pages is pushing it.

Second, I use the time to think about stuff. I'm about 100 craps away from curing cancer.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Cryptonomicon after about 2 months.

I usually exhaust all my thinking for the day in the shower.
