its pretty high up there. if you are trying to avoid "high variance" situations, you are playing stakes too high.

All showing your hand did was change your fold equity from nearly 0 to 0.

yes, I do. By showing my cards and since my raise was so small, I give my opponent the odds to call with basically any two cards. And where there was a slim chance that he might have folded a pair of aces, he is now 100% sure that a call is correct with any hand 10 high or better, unless he is stupider than me. Is that the jist of it?
