How is golfing in the Philippines?

my japanese uncle keeps saying that he saved so much money by playing in the Philippines cuz its cheaper there than in Japan. I also read Daniel Negaraneau's blog where he said that he had a blast playing golf there. I'm addicted to poker and will be going to Hongkong next month, Is it safe enough for me and my boyfriend to golf in the Philippines?
