Default which of these plo noobs will fare best (or worst)?

lets say each of these poker players has never played a hand of plo in their lives. Which of them will pick it up the fastest, who will be the biggest winner and biggest loser?

1) tag 6max 5/10 NLH player
2) lag 6max 5/10 NLH player
3) tough hu NLH player
4) solid 30/60 6 max LHE player
5) solid 30/60 full ring LHE player
5) tough hu LHE player

interesting question, do they all have the same winrate (in $/hr in their own game) to start? Are they all even winners?

I think the nitty players (1 and 5) will probably do OK to start off because they won't lose as much. The HU players 3 and 6 probably adapt better than anyone to a new game. But in the long run if 2 and 4 are winners I'd expect them to do best. Probably the NL player slightly ahead of the LHE player, at least for 6max PLO, but I think you could argue either way.

With 100bb stacks, lag nlhe, and its not even close.

Shortstacking its more about just hand selection and playing straightforward post so the rest could probably handle that equally well.

solid 30/60 6max LHE and I don't think it's close at all.

I am half alseep but I think LHE and PLO are very copacetic games.

I agree. I think limit thinking, i.e. analytical numbers counting is slightly > hand reading.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the money that I've won recently has been against NLHE players doing things like overplaying stuff like QQxx or top pair on boards with flushes and straights. Or paying off nut or high flushes.

The greatest error a LHE player would probably make is calling you down when they shouldn't, especially on the river.

This is a good thread. It's probably pretty useful to try and spot certain types of players and exploit their common errors.

I think this has nothing to do with them being NLHE players because these types of players are simply awful omaha players. Omaha rewards aggression and being loose is a lot smaller mistake against non-top-noch players who rarely play back so the background of being a (good) loose-aggressive has probably improved your hand reading so much that it wont take long to pick it up in omaha.

On the other hand I understand how the intuitive hand range calculations limit players do all the time transfers into omaha. But no limit-nit is going to make it.

A limit-nit will definitely be a solid winner at low stakes, perhaps the biggest of the bunch. They might have trouble moving up, but OP didn't specify the stakes of PLO to be played, or whether the PLO was short handed or not, etc.

I think the big bet concepts are harder to learn than the other stuff, sounds like I'm in the minority though.

Put another way, as someone whose closest descriptor before getting into PLO was $30/$60 LHE 6max player, I had a LOT to learn about big bet. 6max limit holdem is all about not folding on later streets, PLO takes a lot more folding on later streets. The aggression of limit 6max is helpful though. But the thing that helped my PLO game most coming from that spot was reading David and Ed's NLHE book, oddly enough, so I think those big bet concepts are pretty key.

I think a tough HULHE player would do best at shorthanded omaha at normal stack depth.

The deeper you go, the better the tough shorthanded and HUNL lag does.
