Re: Razz Winrates
[ QUOTE ]
Where do you find the std deviation info in PTS? [/ QUOTE ] I don't. I calculated it independently using a program I wrote myself. |

Re: Razz Winrates
FWIW I found it. If you go to the Session Notes tab and click on More Detail... it provides your SD in terms of BB/100 hands.

Re: Razz Winrates
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] At higher limits an expert razz player playing at at table full of tough thinking players can expect Razz to be the lowest varience game available. There is a discussion on this in Gambling Theory & Other Topics by Mason Malmuth where he discusses bankroll theory and requirements for razz. [/ QUOTE ] winrate will also be low [/ QUOTE ] My estimate is a solid .8 to 1BB/hour. In these games if your standard deviation is high then you need to look internally to find the problem - its probably in how you are playing. [/ QUOTE ] You can't possibly make .8-1 BB per hour in a razz game full of "tough thinking players". The poster you were responding to was correct. The same thing that makes razz low variance makes it low EV against competent opponents, let alone "tough thinking players" - to wit, a very high % of the decisions are automatic.* Anyway the OP was asking about winrates, not variance. * Actually technically this is not true. You could have an automatic game with a high variance, like flipping coins. What makes razz low variance is that the hand distributions are very transparent combined with the stud structure which makes it usually incorrect to chase when you are in fact behind. |
