Major discussion between Yanks and Padres about Kei Igawa...Buster Olney has said it is 50-50 right now that it happens. The main discrepency is, of course, the money involved.

The Yankees certainly think he is. They took him in the first round after a great college career and gave him a boat load of money, so it's not like he's a 20th round pick who's suddenly blossoming.

In three seasons at USC he threw 311 1-3 innings with 380 K and 105 BB.

Nice, what about Horne. What's his deal? I hear good things about him as well. He has a 1+K/INN rate at AA as well which always projects well.

He was one of the top pitching prospects in the country as a senior in high school, went to college and blew out his arm. He had TJ surgery four years ago.

He struggled with his control after the surgery, but he's below 3 BB/9 this year. I'm sure he'd be getting a lot more hype if it wasn't for Hughes, Chamberlain and Kennedy.

The Yankees refused to part with Horne for Gagne. That should tell you how highly they think of him.

Kennedy is the real deal. Joba is the real deal. Hughes is the real real deal. Horne is possibly a real deal.

The future is bright....... and by bright I mean 10 feet fro m the sun bright.
