Default TR; Play along format, already TL

Non vetted, play along trip report: It is “Trains” trip but my report. I live 18 minutes from the casino. He can enhance, augment, or take issue with this report at his convenience.

This may become, or already be TL; dry etc so I’ll put in cliff notes as it seems appropriate. I will post ensuing sessions in this thread as they occur:

Train is in town for ~2weeks, trying to convince his employer that he is here to work and not to play poker. (LOL his boss went with us to Tunica in August.)

DAY ONE: Train calls on Thurs when he gets in and says he won’t be playing any poker for about 5 days or so. (Serious minded, company man and so forth...) Okey dokey. Lets get together for pizza, beer, watch Red Sox hammer the hapless Rockies again. C’mon out to the house, we get pizza and beer, we watch game, wife comes home from Bingo Parlor. Regales Train with tales of missing bingo every time by one or two numbers ( I’m not sure, I wasn’t listening, I’ve heard it before).

DAY TWO: mkay 5 days must be up Train calls “Let’s play poker”. Fine, meet you there in an hour or so. When I get there Train is seated at 4/8 LHE table I am next up for either 3/6 or 4/8 and within 2 minutes am called for 4/8 Same table as Train. Directly across the table. This is early afternoon because Train is working 3rd shift. All the regular, tight, but degenerate types are there. Still 3-5 preflop but usually only 2 or 3 past the flop. Train is on the end wearing an “I’m suicidal” (LSU) cap on his head right here in NU country. Right in front of God and everybody.

CAST: From dealer: regular degenerate slightly loose preflop, unknown, Train, tight regular, tight regular, Jabba ( very large chip devouring presence), the guy on my right will soon busto and be replaced by “Traveller”, traveler under responds to my inquisition but implies he travels everywhere, plays poker everywhere, and has some ties to Virginia or DC area. Whatever, Then there is me, (our hero, a weak tight old man), then another quiet, older, weak tightie, then a middle aged guy who is perpetually short stacked rebuys light a couple of times and eventually bustos with no flames. Next is “Yo-Yo” he is young, loose, chip stack is up and down a lot. Predictably he will busto in an hour or two. Over the next few hours some turn over will occur and my memory sux so I’ll describe any other players as needed.

CLIFF NOTES: Train is card dead and goes unnoticed. Bleeds slowly on the felt all afternoon. I don’t know if he will be reading this before he goes home or not but he may have some comments/corrections to add at some point. We didn’t play a hand together. I start down quite a bit, but mostly recover. At highest point I am up 1 BB. Leave down 2+ BB. Train will supply his numbers, if he wishes, but: It was painful. Train leaves after 3 hours and I follow. (UPDATED FOR TRAIN: After we got outside and he left I realized I was looking at rush hour traffic or playing poker for another hour or two. Poker won. I dropped another 8+BB)

DETAILS: I start poorly losing a couple of nice pots quickly, once with Q hi flush (2 trump in pocket) to a K high flush (2 trump in pocket). Jabba got my chips. Interestingly I
raised my Q hi on the river but Jabba didn’t reraise.

I also lost a decent pot holding, and betting TPTK. Lost to straight on the river. Standard.

HILITES: I am dealt AA UTG, I raise, 1 caller, folds to “traveler” Flop is AKK, traveler checks, I bet, caller folds, traveler raises, I trey, traveler folds. Hmmmm….. Is traveler a trick shot artist, or just a little weak tight, or does he have me well read. We’ll see.

Loose, affable, salesman type joins the table and very soon he straddles. Folds to me in about MP2, I raise ATo, all fold except 1 caller. Straddler only calls. Flop is 874 rainbow. Straddler checks, I bet, folds to straddler he calls. Brick turn, check, I bet, he calls. River is ten, straight board no flush or pair on board. Straddler bets, I raise TPTK, straddler calls. MHIG. Straddler mucks. Train had something to add about this hand later.

Back to traveler. I am dealt JTs in MP2 couple of folds, traveler limps, I limp, folds to BB who checks. Flop is AQQ rainbow. Traveler bets, I raise thinking traveler may be light here because I fold a lot and so does BB. Traveller folds (Whew… I don’t know what he had but my raise was kind of “out there” for me) Small pot… shippit in a small envelope please.

LOWLITES:I lost a very large pot when my set of aces won the show pool, running a couple of lengths behind two different straights. Painfully standard.

During my extension, after Train skeedaddled, I had three opportunities in large pots 15+ out draws on the river and missed them all. Hated that.

Somewhere along the line we had voted in kill pots. I never got to expoit any dead monies in kill action because of my semi card dead condition.

More as it happens…… you are there. BTW if you live near Omaha. Come join us sometime in the next 10 days or so.

Great TR,

That river raise is pretty iffy tho ... that or its the most brilliant 3rd level push of a razorthin edge evar.

JTs hand is nice.

And seriously, stop getting pwned with a set of aces yo! Its important to make sure that no-one has a straight when you have such a strong hand unless you expect to suck out on the river.

I've been back in town for a week now, but haven't had the desire or energy to post or play poker. Enjoyed Omagod, NE quite a bit. Very nice town. Thanks for the gracious hospitality. Fish.

I absolutely suck at the live pokers. Bona kept telling me it was variance and being card dead and bad beats and.......

Thanks for the kind words sir, but there's some major leaks in there somewhere......

Hey train. Glad you are back to life. Hows life on the rails again?

I think you are right and I misremembered the action. Traveller maybe did check raise that and folded to my laggy 3 bet. He deserved that though

You are right. I took it easy on you in the throes of your card deaditude. I didn't even report your misery after the first day. But really I think being card dead was most of your problem.

Send the cap up with Bo when he comes. We gonna be needing a coach soon
