Default 25NL - Floating or spewing?

Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.10/$0.25 Blinds - 6 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $9.50
BB: $27.60
UTG: $41.13

CO: $46.71
Hero (BTN): $24.90

Preflop: Hero is dealt Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 Players)
UTG calls $0.25, MP raises to $1.25, CO folds, Hero calls $1.25, 2 folds, UTG calls $1.00

Flop: ($4.10) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 Players)
UTG checks, MP bets $1.00, Hero calls $1.00, UTG folds

Turn: ($6.10) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 Players)
MP bets $1.50, Hero raises to $5.00

My second orbit at the table. Villain was involved in half the pots and very aggressive.

Given the flop and his small bet I decided to float him, and I thought the 6 on the turn could scare him. Was it ok?

How would a 6 scare him? It completed only a gutshot. Lag players are not good to float, if you're gonna do it, I think a flop raise is better, because his bet is very weak and his range not very likely to have hit that board.

If I'm holding 8T it completed an OESD. At this level floating is often just a different way of spelling spew. It can be used effectively, but against players that think or are extremely weak.

From his weak flop bet, looks like hes holding AK/AQ/small pp, so a raise here seems good. If he calls, then you should probably just give up.

Because of his weak betting this could be good. But that 6 has nothing to do with it. That didn't scare him.

I called down a habitual floater/minraiser yesterday with AKo unimproved on a 9 high two diamond flop all the way to the river. Sorry, JTo no good! Not saying my play was good or that this adds any content to this thread, but damn it felt good!
