Heart problems?
Why am I asking about heart problems here? Cause I don't really think I have any. I'm looking for reassurance that everything is ok. If I don't get it I'll have to rethink through.
Most of the time I don't feel my heart beating. It's just there doing it's job. But sometimes all of a sudden I can feel it beat inside my chest. I think this is normal. Is this normal? Just now I was lying in my bed trying to sleep when I started feeling my heart beating. Then unexpectedly it started beating super-fast, like 3 times per second for ten seconds or so before everything got back to normal. Is this healthy, or should I suspect that my heart is not in good health? |

Re: Heart problems?
I get this sometimes, and assumed it was pretty standard but I could be wrong too. The random fast heart beat, or the short periods of pain around the heart for no reason are something I think most people have happen.

Good to know its common. I did tell my doctor about it last time I went and she said everything was fine. |

Re: Heart problems?
I had this in college. It is just random palpitations, and I think it was caused by stress. I wore a heart monitor for 24 hours, and the doctors didn't find anything unusual. Regular exercise cured it for me.

Re: Heart problems?
Healthy people don't get palpitations, irregular beats, skipped beats, and so on, so any kind of irregular heart activity is a sign that something's not right. But it's rarely a reason for great concern.
If you don't look after yourself properly, drink too much, have a lot of stress in life that you're not handling, or regularly have poor sleep, the problems you describe are common without anything being wrong with you. The most telling symptoms of a weak/failing heart are missed beats, fluid in the lungs (causing persistent coughing/wheezing), and trouble doing normal exercise. A fast heartbeat occasionally is more likely stress related. I am not a doctor, but I did have a strange heart murmur when younger (which later disappeared), so I learnt about this stuff. |

I think this is normal. Is this normal? [/ QUOTE ] What did your doctor say? Doctor Mason says you're dying. Can we add a "medical questions" clause to the sticky? This is retarded. |
