Default AQs UTG Big Draws 101

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.10 BB (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

MP2 ($7.75)
MP3 ($18.43)
CO ($9.39)
Button ($10.20)
SB ($11.31)
BB ($8.18)
Hero ($9.90)
UTG+1 ($9.75)
MP1 ($2.83)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
Hero Raises to $.35 , 1 fold, MP2 calls $0.35, 1 fold, CO calls $0.35, Button calls $0.35, SB completes, 1 fold.

Flop: ($1.85) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
SB bets $0.75, Hero?

These hands are continuing to frustrate me. Can someone explain to me are we pushing here? Does being in position change your line against flop donk? Are we calling hoping someone else will shove or raise? Maths helps me understand things alot.

I raised pre because table had been playing really weak-tight, and now everyone wakes up. Normally I don't open with AQ until MP. I have not been very active at the table before this hand.

Thanks,

Easy raise prefop, but to 4BB (as is everything).

I would flat-call the flop with so many people in the hand to act behind you (though getting it AI on the flop against 3 villains isn't bad if you can do it).

Your draw isn't really that big, it's just the NFD as your overcards may not be good.

grunch:

I looked at this hand with pokerstove if we were heads up.

If villian has 9T for 2-pair your 34.6% vs a villians 65.3% to win at showdown.

If villian just has top pair then hero is a slight favorite at showdown.

Im not sure this is a hand where we get it all in. I will wait to see what others suggest.

download pokerstove to help you with calculating math/equity. Spend some time fiddling with your equity against different hands and hand ranges.

To answer your question, both calling and raising are fine for different reasons IMO. And tbh, I'd prefer just calling at 10NL.

AA
KK
QQ
AKs
JJ
AKo
TT
AQs

its a very powerful hand, I'd open it from every position

pot-sized raises preflop are actually my preferred amount, but sinc I mainly play on stars, and stars bar goes by bb, I default to 4bb, the difference between 3bb, 3.5bb, 4bb is tiny in the grand scheme of things

on the flop I pot-raise(~$4)

Grunch means you haven't read what others have said before posting your $.02.

Grunch.

What is a "Grunch"/"Grunching"?
A well respected 2+2er, The Grunch, once made a post encouraging posters, particularly newer posters, to respond to an initial hand posts without reading the responses. The point of this is mainly to encourage original responses not influenced by the opinions of other (often well respected as established) posters. It also serves to create a wider variety of responses. New posters are strongly encouraged to Grunch, as it really does help them improve their game.

I remember reading your posts on that forum and they were also very helpful.
