1/2 JTs TP/big draw deep.
1/2 Live at a club. Villain and I both have around $800. He seems somewhat (?) decent for a live player. Can tell he's played live quite a bit as he's quite comfortable talking during hands etc.
Sometimes he says what's in his hand or hints at it and he tells the truth fairly often, possibly slightly greater than 50% of the time even. FWIW if he has an overpair like AA or KK I don't *think* he'll get all his money in with it. Of course, I've only played with him for 2 hours or so so I could be wrong. My image is tight (I've barely showed anything down at all since he arrived.. the game was 8 handed for most of the time he's been playing), although a few orbits ago he reraised me preflop and I pushed (I only had around $350ish then) and he thought a while and folded JJ. I didn't show and he was really wondering what I had. Since then I stacked fish #2 (not Villain) w/ AA when I hit a set, checked the flop and he tried to bully me off w/ QQ when I bet on the turn. I have J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] on the button, he is in the SB. We're 5 handed. I'll do this hand in parts, posting the next part when I wake up. To start the hand Villain looks at his cards and says "whoah, watch out guys". UTG (loose fish $400) raises to $7. MP (loose fish $400) calls. I (button) call. Villain (SB) makes it $27. BB folds. Both fish call and I call (call is ok right?). Flop is T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain leads out $75. Both fish fold. I? |

Assuming villain has a big pair or AK, the only hand that OP is in trouble against is TT, which seems a less likely holding than QQ+. If you don't exploit the fold equity a big raise would have (as OP said he didn't like villain was likely to get his stack in with AA or KK too readily), you'll probably be facing a pot sized turn bet which you won't have the odds to call (assuming you miss your outs). If you do hit one of your outs, villain is likely to slow down against a 3flush or a ten anyway. Shoving lets you see both the turn and river against a range you're flipping with, and has great fold equity. A raise to $300 is fine, too. |

Fold preflop. [/ QUOTE ] You have to call $20 to see a flop with $90 already in the pot multiway against two fish and someone massively deepstacked, with one of the best drawing hands, in position over everyone else, and you want to fold? WTF? |

Re: 1/2 JTs TP/big draw deep.
calling pf is terribly standard, the flop is tricky I would be tempted to say something like 'well you must have a big pair. I'll make it 250' really depends on how often he'll 3bet ai though.
smooth calling isn't bad, how about pushing the turn? do you think you have enough fold equity on any street here vs AA, KK or QQ? |
