1-2NL what do we have?

Yesterday afternoon at FW 1-2 NL game; I've been playing a lot of pots, stealing a fair share but haven't had to show them. The only hand I've had to show so far was JJ as the nuts on a J high board.

SB has also been playing a lot of pots, and seems to get out of line a little bit both pre-flop and post-flop. Raised 7-2 in late position; plays 2-10 UTG. Neither of us has been getting crazy with large pre-flop bets.

I have about 285 in my stack, Villain covers.

I'm in MP.
Folded to me, I raise to $12.

Folds around to SB, re-pops to $25.

I call $13 more.

SB checks, and quickly exposes his hand to his neighbor.
I check.

Turn (Pot $52) J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

SB Bets $10

Hero raises to $60.

SB Raises all-in (350 more)

Hero calls 200 more and is all-in.

You better have AQ. Checking the flop with a big pair/set is silly (why not build the pot) ... and calling a big all-in with one pair on the turn (after not betting the flop) is also silly.

Yep, you win.

He had KK.

How people think that a check and then a 1/5 Pot bet on the turn is maximizing the value of a hand like this is beyond me.

Make sure you apologize sincerely for the "bad beat" and say you just got lucky after you take the chips. (Unless he rivered the boat of course)

theres no way any 2p2er with a brain cell would have anything but AQ here, and its not even close
