I might sell a nut for a Santana/Halladay 1-2 for the next half decade.

Which nut hits better?

The left vs righties, the right vs lefties.

I'd fully support a Lillibridge+whoever not named McCann to the Twins provided they sign Santana for 5 years or less at... any cost.

Kyle - agree regarding justin upton obviously - and I also agree that the Twins are probably too retarded to move Santana while the iron his hot, because like most teams they will view themselves as a contender next year, when that is probably irrational. I disagree with the fact that he'll be traded for garbage though, I would make a good bet that he goes for a consensus number 1 or 2 prospect in an organization if he goes at the deadline assuming he maintains his production. He's not Bobby Abreu in a down year, he's Johan [censored] Santana!

Jack, Lillibridge, Schafer, and Hanson for 1 year of Santana and no extension? If not, where would you draw the line?

Nah. I mean, as much as I support the "win now" mode with Chipper+Teix and all, I'd be against shooting the entire load for 1 year.

Sox-

Ellsbury, Lester, Bowden, Moss. Only done if he signs a contract extension.

How about for Carlos Quentin + minor prospect?

very interesting, I had almost completely forgotten about Carlos Quentin. I wonder if his stock has dropped too much due to being 25 and abysmal in his 220+ PA this year. Thinking more about the Dbacks, I could see a package of quentin/gonzalez + callaspo(who the team now hates, even though he has potential) getting the job done. Callaspo, of course, isn't a great fit with the Twins having Bartlett and Casilla, as you mentioned.

I think they like Gonzalez a lot there. Then again, they do like Quentin, but he's just not producing yet. Quentin has tons of upside and trading him seems premature... but with Young/Byrnes/Upton, there is absolutely no room for him. Gonzalez is still possibly a year away from full-time work, so keeping him around makes sense.

I'd hate to trade Quentin, but Josh Byrnes did it to himself. Upton won't ever get sent down unless he is positively terrible. Callaspo probably needs to stick around given that Hudson will be gone soon and Augie Ojeda is not the long-term solution at second base, while Callaspo could be.

If possible, I'd like the DBacks to keep Gonzalez and Callaspo and get Santana for Quentin + X. Unfortunately, Brian Barden probably isn't good enough for them, and they don't want another medium upside pitcher (Nippert/Daigle).

I think it heavily depends on how they do in the playoffs this year, and whether or not Colletti is willing to block a deal to Arizona by trading the next Sandy Koufax + a stud outfielder.
