Default Help! My 2nd Montior refuses to work!

Ok.

I have two identical Dell 2007FP's.

This morning I played a session, left to go do some stuff, and returned to find only the right one working and the left one in powersave.

I have checked all connections, used google (failing miserably i might add), and in display settings it does not even recognize that the 2nd monitor exists.

Plz Help.
10$ on stars if that makes a difference

Have you restarted your computer? Or powered the monitor off then back on?

Don't laugh. This [censored] works sometimes.

i have restarted three times.
and if i unplug it and plug it back in it powers up, a window pops up and says "going to powersave" and then it sleeps.

Continuing with more simple but standard questions.

Have you checked to make sure that the cords are firmly attached to your monitor and computer? Sounds like the monitor is working fine, but the computer and monitor are not seeing each other.

question: does the monitor display the windows boot screen when windows is starting up? (then go blank when you log into windows...)

if so, i had a problem like this, and it was very tricky to fix. it had to do with something called "EDID".

i'm pretty sure i used this page to help me fix the problem:

http://www.geocities.com/jgeneedid/

like i said, it was pretty tricky so PM me if you have questions.

someone else sent me a pm and i typed up this little summary so i'll post it here in case it's useful:

basically you just want to get the correct edid into a txt file. hopefully you can get that from the viewsonic program. then you use ddcw from a boot disk to write that edid to your monitor. realize that ddcw will only work if you have a video card with an nvidia chipset.
