Default Shreveport question

I will be driving through Shreveport Friday night as part of a long road trip to get my brother to the new army base he is being stationed at in Maryland. I would like to stay overnight Friday at one of the casinos there..preferably the one with the biggest game and/or the nicest rooms. I play 10/20NL but I obviously know I will be lucky if I find a 5/10 running in that dump of a city. I have never been to Sherevport before...can someone please tell me the best place to stay at and what room rate to expect? My brother will be with me and he will want to play the lowest limit game possible..i.e. 4/8 limit or lower if possible. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

You ask a question the locals could best answer and slam their city in the same post. Good luck, sir.

The last time I played up there was about a year ago, at the Horseshoe, and they had 4/8 limit and the biggest no limit was 2/5.

Every local I have ever met from there who was playing in Dallas described their city as such; giving me the descriptor I now use.

Never been to the El Dorado, Horseshoe was about 6-8 tables in a sectioned off area of the casino. Nothing fancy, but it wasn't a dump or anything.

First of all we dont appreciate you calling our little home away from home a dump. Second of all the only two casinos that have a poker room are the Horseshoe and ElDorado. Thirdly, good luck finding a reasonable room rate for friday night.

The Horseshoe spreads 4/8Limit, 1/3NL and 2/5NL on a regular basis. The Shoe has automatic shufflers and the ElDo doesnt. That is one of the reasons I never go to the ElDorado. I know that the ElDorado spreads 4/8 and 1/2NL every day all day.

Good Luck with your room. Try a Holiday Inn or something.

In honor of the first Shreveportan I have ever met to show some city pride I will refrain from using the descriptor any further.

Realistically, anything under $200 a night is fine by me.

I make the hour and a half drive over to Shreveport about once a month on the weekend to play for one night. It is very difficult to find a reasonable room on a normal weekend, let alone a holiday weekend on short notice. Good luck. Trying booking through Harrah's. The will usually book overflow in the Holiday Inn on Old Minden Road. It is a short drive and often the have a shuttle. Wouldn't surprise me if all good rooms in the city were booked. FWIW, the Shoe spreads 20/40 LHE on a near daily basis. I think at times the game plays with "overs". In the last few months on weekends, I have seen a 30/60 limit mixed game and some other limit game higher than 30/60 running that I can recall the details of. They occasionally will have a PLO game running(either 1/2 or 2/5, I think). I have never seen anything NL above 2/5. 1/2 and 2/5 run daily.
ElDorado recently removed some of its tables and the room doesn't seem to have the as much action as it once did. You often will see a 1/2 PLO game running. When the right people have been in town, I have seen a big PLO game going(I think it was 25/50/100).
I usually play at the Shoe. If you get hungry while playing, I would recommend the chicken strip basket. Its about $8 and enough food for 2 people.
