Default NL50 - QQ river call

I thought about reraising the flop but his raise looked uncharacteristic. I was at the table for about 20 hands and he was quite loose (40-ish VPIP) but passive and mainly called down. So I decided to just call. When the king hit I wanted him to be betting and me calling because he would not call with a big part of his range. I was really not sure about the river call though. Isn't it too big for me to call profitably?

I think this is the best line you could take.

Nice check on the turn for pot control.

This looks like a missed draw to me. I don't think the King hit him. I see a lot of players raising with their draws to protect their hand and get free card...which happened here. I think his bet on the river is probably a bluff. If he had a suited King, he probably would have bet the turn for value. His line make no sense. It's a ballsy (but good) call on your part. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Also, it lets the other people at the table (if they're paying attention) that you aren't backing down on the river and that they need a strong hand to make you fold. Take notes on this guy after the hand.

Well played. I expect to see him turn over a 9 on the river, maybe a busted flush draw.

On that flop were most likely against sets and flush draws I think. Turn looks like it could be a missed checkraise attempt to me. You say this guy is passive so I would use that in making my river decision. Does a passive guy checkraise the flop with a flush draw? I would fold the river expecting to see a set most of the time.

Guess my definition of a passive player is quite different. I would almost never expect to see a missed flush draw or a 9x hand if I called this river.

we have only played together for a couple of orbits so my read was not very good. On the flop I thought this is a FD or a set, that is why I did not want to fold out the FD's by betting. I would have folded turn if he bet again but I was ready to call one bet on the river if the flush card would not come. The only thing is I thought his bet was quite big. I'd be comfortable calling a 1/2pot bet but I am not sure if this one was not too big for me to call. Looks like the borderline size doesn't it?

Genesis has it...passive players do not check raise flush draws, then bluff big after missing on river. An easy fold for me...he won't be betting the ricer like this without TP crushed.
