Best WiFi device while travelling?

I'm going travelling for ~1 year and will not be taking my laptop. It would be nice however to have some sort of device that could connect to (free) wifi hotspots.

Right now I'm thinking of getting this:
ARCHOS 705 WIFI


It's got 80gb and would be good for storing my photos as well. And also for playing music and videos (porn)

Anyone ever own an Archos, or have experience with a similar product?
