Default Centerpoint Energy (CNP)

I've been putting money in Zecco the past couple months and so far have stuck to buying ETF's. The amount of money I'm dealing with isn't much compared to what you guys trade with but I figure better to start small than not at all.

Anyway, I've got $1500 in iShares MSCI Emerging Markets and $1500 in iShares Russell 1000. I've been wanting to try to do some research and find my own stock to see how it does. I'm thinking about putting 10% ($300) in CNP.

They have a P/E of 11.5 while most similar companies are almost twice that. It's net income has been growing steadily for the past 3 years. It's held in a lot of Vanguard Mutual funds. That's about as far as my stock research knowledge takes me

I don't know enough to understand a lot of the charts/filings I find on the internet though. If anyone else does research on this and can point out things I missed, thanks.
