the dealer should have stopped the guy, but in this case i would just let it go. win his stack and he'll find a ATM.

Sorry. Don't think I explained this properly. The drunk guy's friend came over and the drunk guy took $100 out of his stack to pay him back without leaving the table. Should I have spoken up when I saw this?

No, just let it go. Worst case scenario would be that his friend would just tell him to get up from the table, then you wouldn't be able to play for his other $300. If it was a nit, sure make a deal about it ;D

I did this once before I knew the rule. I was playing 6-12, had lucked into some big pots, and had about $300 in front of me. I hear the floorman announce there was a $60 tournament starting in 45 minutes. I realized I didn't have any cash left, so I grabbed some chips and went to the cage to pay for my buyin.

When I came back a nit at the table complained angrily that I had "broken the rules" by taking money off the table. I apologized, racked up, and sat out until the tourney.
