Haha. Sorry. I was playing a game of Halo. OMG thats awesome.

As far as renting cars goes, would you just go to a place like Hertz, Avis, Nation, etc.?

Yes, call them and ask about long term rentals.

Best to do this at locations outside of the airport, to avoid the typical surcharges.

No you go to Terrible's U-Pull-It body shop and build the car yourself.

A friend and I did this last summer. I would check sites like vrbo.com and http://www.lasvegasretreats.com/ (this is where we got the place we stayed for a month. The apartments/houses are all furnished with everything you could want for an extended stay. I also think renting a car is worth it. It was pretty cheap if you check sites like fatwallet.com for discounts.

One thing about renting a car is that many places will not rent to anyone under 25 or charge a big surcharge to do so. As you indicate that you are just of college, that might be an issue for you. Be very careful relying on public transport in LV, and cabs can get pricey on a daily basis for a low limit budget. If you are going to rely on public transport, be very careful on location.
Good luck and enjoy it!

I stayed at Blair house a couple years ago off of Desert Inn and Paradise. I'm not sure if it's still around, but it was a furnished apartment and at the time was probably the only one around (except for budget suites, but that doesn't count much). I think it was also gated or somehow locked which was also important since I had a lot of cash with me (at least it was at that time!)

I was thinking about it and my Mom has a van that I could probably borrow for the summer.
