Am I getting scammed? (STORMPAY?)
I listed my X360 for sale on craigslist and have been exchanging e-mails with this guy, and he wants me to ship the X360 to his kid in Africa. He says we should use stormpay because it is secure for both parties... I'm sure it's a scam but is stormpay legit? sound slike it MAY be.
Hello, I'm in wisconsin right now but I'll be leaving for london for a soccer coaching job in a week time. The item is for my son's gift who travelled to spend sometime with his mum where she works in the US consulate in west africa.I'll have to add some extra for you to send it to him as soon as possible.I'll be paying you through Stormpay money order as soon as you make your decision i will pay you $700 for the item and shipnt fee; it's secure and protects two parties in a transaction.Let me hear from You ASAP. |

Re: Am I getting scammed?
No it is not a scam. She really does love you, and her poor departed husband really did leave the 35 million in the bank account.

Re: Am I getting scammed?
yeah, i would never ship first... unless he sent me the money and had it cash in hand. I'm basically asking if stormpay is legit.

[/ QUOTE ] If you actually "have" the money, then it really doesn't matter where it was from. But I still think the OP has nothing to worry about, she really was married to the Prince. |

Re: Am I getting scammed?
If his mother was working for the US Consulate in (west africa? how about a specific country?), she should have a special address like and APO or something just like overseas military right? I'm pretty sure it's a scam, but if you are thinking of going through with it at least verify the address and who lives there (check with the US State Department even to see if there's a way to verify).

Re: Am I getting scammed?
"No, I don't feel comfortable using Stormpay. How about we use a service that is a little more well known and legit, such at Paypal? As soon as I get your transfer, I will ship this XBox to wherever you want it sent."

[/ QUOTE ] Sure, why else would sites like http://www.stormpayfraud.com/ exist? Or a google of stormpay scam returns about 10000 hits. It seems the two things stormpay is known for is the high fees it charges, and the ease at which buyers can chargeback without seller recourse. But I am sure the buyer's explanation of why he insists on stormpay is legit. |
