considering him being on the Red Sox is a major reason why the Red Sox will be in Japan in the first place, him NOT being there would be a big deal, yeah.

ban OP. ESPN sucks in way infinitely worse than reporting Red Sox minutiae. The 1984 treatment of the Bob Golic's steroid use being the most recent example.

IIRC, several members of the Yankees and Rays got sick when they were there in 2004 and I had thought the players union had therefore thought the better of scheduling another series there.
