NL 200: Best way to beat shortstack shover
there is this guy on FTP who is, hands down, the worst shortstacker ever.
He buys in from $40-$63.50 (?) He shoves any two cards often. First hand of any game, he shoves. He shoves any decent hand (but sometimes does normal raises) He shoves after he loses a hand He shoves. Thats what he does. Also, he leaves when he wins 50% of the time 50% of the time when he loses, he reloads. -He plays well postflop. -He understands concepts like the gap concept He has lost THOUSANDS this week. Whats the best strategy vs him? (He plays HU and 6 max both) (AKA CALLING RANGE) |

Find a new table because his strategy is not exploitable.

call with QQ+ AQs, AKs, AKo.
tighten that range if you are variance-averse. |

naw thats not even me.. lol but no its not a fake post, he is real. He leaves if you don't "call enough". I think QQ + Aqs, is too tight, since he would leave. I believe he plays for "entertainment"

Just depending on my feel for how often he's doing this, determines how low my Ax's and PPs calling range is. I assume he's doing this with hands as bad as Q9s, K7s some of the time. My calling range would probably be like 99+ and AQo+, AJs+ |

Re: NL 200: Best way to beat shortstack shover
If he was shoving every hand, it would be a no-brainer pokerstove equation.
thing is, he goes into "phases" his shoving range(over few hundred hands) is like this [27o-2To, 34o-39o, J2-J5o] 20% of the time [random -KK,AA] 100% of the time first hand after he loses a shove, and first hand at table [A2o+, K2o+, Q2o+, J2o+, T7o+] 40% of the time Deepstacked: (~100bb+, or facing a raise) [22-QQ, ATo+, KJo+], 40% of the time he shoves He mixes it up. He plays different. He leaves when he doubles up about 25% of the time, and leaves when he gets stacked 25% of the time. Whats best way to MAXIMIZE? |
